Art Around the World

For the our introduction to our Art around the World Unit we talked about the evolution of travel and the history of map making. We learned about map skills like using a compass and what latitude and longitude mean. Then we made "treasure maps" with old map paper and compasses. One student even embellished his island by independently drawing palm trees with no model!
